Betty is better. She is doing okay. We are all very much relieved. She called me on the phone today. She sounded weak but in good spirits. She got very pretty flowers from Eddie and Kim, the family and Brogan, Tom and Charlene. Walt, Carmen, Dennis, Brogan, Dorothea, Milan, Sandra Smith and Nona and Charlene all visited with her today. Walt talked with Zack last night, he is coming home after the exams. He was surprised to hear about his mother. Betty Smith has a headache today. Walt up for supper. Carmen, Dennis, Brogan and Milan called today. This has been a spring like day.
Saturday, January 17, 1987 Betty is doing well
This is been a very nice spring like day. It was very cold when we got up this morning. Five below. It soon warmed up. I got my work done up, washed kitchen floor etc. Baked beans. David here this morning, brought Billie’s grain. I got lunch, got ready to go to the hospital to see Betty. She looked quite well, a dite on the pale side. She was under sedation. She was so glad she was getting on to recovery. She is very sore. Walt was here when Milan, Betty and I got there. Carmen came in with Brogan. She was going to take her down to Linda Morrison to babysit. But Walt took her home with him and Linda was to pick her up at four and take her home and stay with her till Dennis came from work. Reason Walt kept her because her kids had strep throat. Kim and Eddie came to see Betty late this PM. Also called here, at Walt’s too. Kim looked very nice. We called to see Fern today.

I went down to the hospital with Milan and Betty to see Betty H. She was pretty good, heavily sedated. Walt was there. This was a holiday observing Martin Luther King. I did the washing, made a Jell-O etc. Dorothea called tonight on her way home from the exercise class. She went to see Betty.
