March 22 - 25, 1982

 

Monday, March 22, 1982 Billie 52 years, Jersey calf went today for veal

 

A beautiful looking morning when we got up. Everything was a solid WHITE. It was a winter wonderland as they call it. Well during forenoon the sun melted from the trees and power lines. Snow melted some in the roads, but it got cloudy and didn’t melt much after that. I got my washing done about 1 PM. Reason why so late because power was off for two hours in the morning. Also I made a cake, prepared salad. Got my work all done. Fern came up in early PM for Billie’s birthday supper. Also in evening Betty, Walt, Kim, Zak came, later Carmen and all her nine or 10 friends, all enjoyed the party. Joy and Laurie was here too. Billie got nice useful gifts, was very pleased.

 

 

 

Tuesday, March 23, 1982

 

A beautiful mild day and temps high so the snow melted alot. Carmen and friends gone skiing again. They had a good time skiing. Carmen called in evening. She is so awful tire. I did the ironing. Swept up the house etc.

 

 

 

 Wednesday, March 24, 1982 KIMBERLEY

 

Bill to the doctors. His eye is bad, the bulging one. He has got to go to Portland for an appointment to have it operated on and checked. I went down to Betty’s. Carmen applied for a job at the NCM hospital for the summer. I hope she gets it. She came up for supper tonight, we had barbecued chicken. Kim called after school. She was elected vice Pres. of the AFS. I am so pleased about this. She too is excited about it and really pleased.

 

 

 

Thursday, March 25, 1982

 

A nice sunny very mild day. Foggy when we got up. It cleared and a very nice mild sunny day. Betty took us to town today. Carmen over to Fryeburg with Billie but not any sawdust anymore.

Friday, March 19, 1982

 

A quite nice day. Sunny, snow melted. Billie and Heidi and Carmen took a walk down into the pasture. The crust is softening up. Carmen came up for breakfast. She and Betty cleaned up their house. Carmen is expecting guests this weekend. I washed windows, swept and cleaned the house etc. Betty, Walt, all three kids and Fern went out for supper tonight. Fish and chips at Pumpkin Valley Inn. Kim got off from work to go.

 

 

 

Saturday, March 20, 1982

 

A big surprise as we expected nice sunny weather, now we got a very nice sunny mild day. Temps up to 45 – 55°. I done my work, swept, dusted, washed floors, made bread etc. Took a bath and before one, we all done. Kim came up for breakfast this morning. David called and had coffee. Kim talked and seemed very happy. She used to be so quiet and shy. She gets over that as she gets older. Bill set all day. I think he would go crazy. Billie in and out. Billie and Heidi didn’t get down very far, the snow is soft.

 

 

 

Sunday, March 21, 1982

 

We had all kinds of weather today. It was clear then it got cloudy, it snowed, it rained and also we got some thunder showers. Carmen is expecting company. I hope it won’t turn to bad weather. I done up my regular work. Got all cleaning done. Carmen called in PM. It began to snow in late PM. Betty and Walt up to camp. Bill and I called at David and Dorothea’s. Joy, Cindy, Debbie, Jay, Jessica called in evening. Tonight Carmen got a call, one of her friends can’t make it. One car came, Becky.

 

March 15 - 18, 1982

Monday, March 15, 1982

 

Well we have had a nice clear all day. It was cold and windy. Very nice and sunny. I did the washing, went down to Betty’s for a little while. Carmen came up here, she and Billie went to Norway and called to see Arlene Mayberry Stiles. Then Carmen called in here. She went down to Saunders Dowell Mill. She filled out an application. She called at Fern’s. Carmen is worried about getting work. Said she may have to stay right up there to the school and work.

 

 

 

Tuesday, March 16, 1982

 

Sunny when we got up again. I did my ironing and a few odd jobs then I watched TV programs in PM. Carmen called. It is so good she is home. I hate the thought of her going away or out into the world. Will miss her so much. But she has to make a life for herself. Her childhood days are gone. Kim goes next then Zak.

 

 

 

Wednesday, March 17, 1982

 

Not too bad a day, some clouds. Betty, Kim, Carmen, and Lisa to Portland to the orthodontist. Also they did Kim’s birthday shopping. I cooked up pot roast supper and had Walt and Zak up for supper. I also made a blueberry pie and filled cookies. They got home about 6:30 from Portland.

 

 

 

Thursday, March 18, 1982

 

Well a pretty nice day. I done up my work. Went to town with Betty. Fern down to get her hair done. Delores went shopping. It was mild. I came home. Billie washed my windows outside then he cleaned the cars. I washed the windows in them. I washed my kitchen floors. Carmen up tonight for a baked ham supper.

 

 

 

March 11 - 14, 1982 Carmen Home, Fire at Swanson's

Well up again this morning, in the clouds. Foggy. I need it so. I do wish we could see some sun. I done up the work, went to town. Came home. Got things started for supper. Watched TV in PM.

 

 

 

Friday, March 12, 1982 Carmen came about 11 PM

 

A miserable day, foggy and cloudy. One good thing, it was milder and all night it is taking the snow down. I did regular work. I washed some windows, put a rinse on my hair. Bill up to Dorothea’s in a.m., down to Betty’s in PM. Billie in and out. Kim gone babysitting. Well tonight about 11 PM Carmen came from school. She came with Becky and her father. She has come for a two weeks break. Debbie, Jay, Natasha, Zenya, Laurie also. Kim didn’t get home from work very early. Carmen called last night, she looks so good and I was so glad to see her.

Not  sure what is going on here!

 

 

 

 

Saturday, March 13, 1982

 

Well another miserable cloudy foggy rainy day. I done my work. Washed rest of the windows. I made bread and rolls. I washed floors and took a bath. Kim called a little while then went up to Dawn’s. Tara idolizes Kim. She is Kim’s dog. She misses are so much when she is away.

 

 

Sunday, March 14, 1982 Swanson store burned

 

Windy. Well this is been a better day than usual. A lot of sun today, some clouds. It was on the windy side. David called. I done up my work. Then went up to Dorothea’s to see the floors. They are beautiful and look very nice. I’m very glad for her that she has got that done. We called at Betty and Walt’s. Tom and Charlene called. Had a nice visit. Came home then called at Fern’s. She was very pleased. Also we went and saw David’s cows and Billie’s. Bill, Carmen, Zak and I went to see the fire at Swanson store all burned up.

March 7 - 10, 1982

 

Sunday, March 7, 1982

 

A very miserable day. It was cloudy, rain and snow. I read rest of magazines. I wrote to Es and Carmen. Kim came up this morning. Also David called. Zak and a friend called. Also Walt came up for the rubbish. Billie down to Fern’s. She is depressed due to the weather and boredom. Bill is about the same. He is doing some better. Still week and logy. This miserable weather has a lot to do with it. Dorothea has a cold. She called in evening. Had to take Susan to the movies, bad traveling. Rain and a cold. I thought she had rather stayed at home. They got all done at Dorothea’s, the floors.

 

 

 

Monday, March 8, 1982

 

A pretty good day. I defrosted my refrigerator. I did a big wash. Bill a dite logy today. Billie busy going here and there at Fern’s, down town. Dorothea got a bad cold. I got a letter off to Carmen and Esther.

 

 

 

Tuesday, March 9, 1982

 

Another one of those awful dreary days, sun out a little while this a.m. then got cloudy. I did my ironing and cleaned up the house. Bill got a haircut. It was so long. David called in a.m. He is getting better. I finished looking at the albums of Betty’s.

 

 

 

Wednesday, March 10, 1982

 

Well when we got up it was nice and clear, the sun came up. But at about mid-forenoon it began to haze up and by early PM it began to cloud up. By 11 PM it began to snow. Now that is the weather pattern we have had all winter and summer and fall. No sun, either cloudy or rain. I done some odd and end jobs. Dorothea cleaned and settled her den. I’m so glad for her. She got her floors done so far. Betty and kids went to Mechanic Falls to the dentist. Walt home all day. Bill seems much better. I finished my scraps. Kim called in evening.
