A nice clear day, but on the awful cold side. I done up my work early and went down to Betty’s and helped her clean her house up. We did the bingo games. Then we went down to Fern’s. Did some phone calls for her. At 2 PM Mr. Wentworth of the Raymond Funeral Home called at Fern’s. Made her and Lloyd’s funeral arrangements. A preparation to be made by her before death. Bill and Ilan fishing today. Keith called tonight.
Tuesday, January 18, 1977 COLD
It was cloudy when we got up but it cleared. It wasn’t too warm all day. I done up a dite of work then went down to Betty’s to play bingo. Came home and got a pot roast dinner to going for supper. Then at one we went to town, got Carmen, to the bank and drawed out some money for Fern. Took it down to her. Came home, got supper and down there again. These bingo games are played over the radio from Norway.
Wednesday, January 19, 1977 Continued very cold
We are having awful cold cold weather. I called Linda W McLeod and Jack came home yesterday. I did a wash today and dried the clothes in the house. Too cold and Bill and Ilan didn’t go fishing.
Thursday, January 20, 1977 Inauguration of Carter and Mondale
I watched the inauguration of President James Carter and Vice President John Mondale. It was very nice all day. I went down to Betty’s to play bingo from 10:30 to 11 AM. Bill and Ilan fishing today. Carmen and Betty to Portland to have Carmen’s eyes examined. Will do some shopping and out for supper and to a movie. It was a sad affair to see the Fords and Rockefellers leave, it was very quiet and simple as Ford wanted it. He was a good president. Did all right except when he pardoned Nixon.
