A little of everything weatherwise. I did some odds and end
jobs today. Fern and Lloyd called. I sent a card to Kim and Carmen. I made a
pie for supper. Bill had to work a little while after supper.

A beautiful day. Mild, snow melting. I washed. Bill called
to get his coffee for lunch. Joe Hatch came, he and Rand. They plowed and we
paid them. I got ready and went to Norway with Ken and Dolores. Got Carmen’s
birthday gifts, carriage, doll and a book. Also got a couple things for Kim.
Made a meatloaf for supper. Betty called, Carmen much better, coming home
tomorrow. She has had a lot of mail. One in particular from Jeff. She favored
that from him. In evening Bill and I called at Dorothea and family at
Westbrook, they are all better.
(This particular diary has a monthly journal page called
Special Data that Nanny used to highlight the monthly events)
Special Data
One special of this month, Carmen gave us all a terrible
fright. She was taken sick with spinal meningitis. I January 24, Betty called
us. Carmen had just entered the hospital with that dreaded disease. We all was
very worried for about 36 to 48 hours. Betty and Walt both very sick. Also
Dorothea and Dave. Fern to an eye specialist to have her eyes check. House not
completed as yet.
