The blog posts below are taken from my grandmother's diaries. Althea Green Smith Crook was lovingly referred to as Nanny to her immediate family ~ thus her diaries are called Nanny's Diaries.

Nanny wrote in her diaries when she remembered to - mostly in the evening. There will be some years in which she didn't keep diaries and there will also be some days/weeks in her yearly diaries in which she skipped or forgot to write in them. For the most part, these are her words - written as she wrote them. There will be typos, forgotten punctuation, and other grammatical errors - but I am rewriting these as my Nanny originally wrote them.

As with all old handwriting, there are some entries that I can't quite make out - and these entries will be followed with a (?) to signify that this may or may not be correct or I can't figure out what she is trying to write.

Thank you Nanny for leaving us 50 years worth of memories! We miss you!

November 6 - 9, 1967

Monday, November 6, 1967 Clear and cold in p.m.

I washed. In early a.m. I went to town with Fern and Lloyd. I had some errands to do. I came home, washed. Washed some windows, took off screens. It cleared off in p.m., beautiful clear cold and windy day. I got the clothes in. Bill and I called on Thomas family tonight. Dorothea seems much better.

Tuesday, November 7, 1967 Cold all week

I did my ironing. It is cold. I finished washing my windows. A beautiful day. I got rest of the house all straightened out. It sure looks some better. Randy called after school.

Wednesday, November 8, 1967

I washed a couple of blankets and some other things today. Betty and Carmen called. Betty is happy. Walt is being promoted, more pay etc. It was good talking to them. My stomach isn’t any better yet. Clear in a.m., clouded up in PM.

Thursday, November 9, 1967

Cloudy day to start with, but it cleared off. I didn’t do much, checked over some things in my desk. My stomach kind of sore. No one here today. I ironed early this morning.
