Sunday, June 21, 1964 Cow Gone
A dry hot day. Some showers in some places. Worked all day.
Had a cookout. The first one for 1964. Kennie, Dot, Fern, Lloyd. Billie worked
for Lawrence. He also traded cattle. His cow he has had for several years and
liked went tonight. She was a very good cow, we liked her very much. Billie
hated to see her go. He now has two Guernsey heifers. No more milk. Milked for
last time.
Monday, June 22, 1964 MIKE SICK
Another dry hot day. Today Betty got a letter from Mike, he
is seriously sick and is expected to be flown back to the US at once to enter
hospital for blood disease and bone infection, which is very serious according
to Army doctors. Blanche brought money over for TRIP $660. Washed.
Tuesday, June 23, 1964 GOT TICKETS
A very nice day. Hot. Bill and I took off for Portland. We
got our tickets and clothes for the trip. Had a nice day. We bought some porch
chairs, things for Jeff and Carmen. Betty home with Carmen all day. Home all
evening. Fern, Blanche and Bob came to see our purchases. Letter from Dorothea.
Wednesday, June 24, 1964
Got some rain, not too much. I packed and mailed Jeff’s
birthday gift. Went to town with Fern and Lloyd. Verna and children went too.
Betty and Billie mowed lawns. I cooked a chicken, had some spinach. LC Andrews man
called here. Bill and I called at Mr. Vose. Betty home again this evening, wow.
