A nice crisp day. We all are a flutter with our big
surprise of last night. Betty, Jeff and I went down in the woods, got a small
Christmas tree for Aunt Ava. Betty and Jeff done the decorating outside. Fern
and Lloyd called, Blanche and Aunt Ava. Dorothea seems pleased to be home. She
has come home till after Christmas. We are so glad. It was such a surprise.

Bill home sick today. Dorothea and I done up the work. Got Mike’s package off,
got stamps. I cleaned up the house, washed upstairs windows. Betty, Dorothea,
Jeff and I to town in p.m. Did Mama’s Christmas shopping for her. Paid all the
taxes. What a relief.
