Cloudy in a.m. but it came off hot and sunny. Up quite
early. Got ready and left home about 8 AM. Got Fern and Lloyd. We went to
northern Maine, and drove over up into Canada. We went as far as St. George. Saw
the beautiful churches (Catholic). It was a very nice day and we enjoyed it
very much. Ate dinner alongside Wyman Lake where there were booms of pulp going
down to the dam, some were being towed down with tugboats. Today a very tragic
accident. Mr. and Mrs. Piearrie got killed in a bad accident, burnt to death. A
shock to the town, very nice and useful citizens. Mrs. drove the school bus,
Carmen and Billie’s. Joy had a 8 pound 10 ounce girl. Cynthia Louise.
