Friday, December 10, 1971 PERMANENT
Went to town today. Down to Betty’s a while. Bill and Gordon
worked on the furnace. I done my shopping. Had to go to the bank to get money.
Over to June’s and got my permanent this forenoon.
Saturday, December 11, 1971 Three Hodsdon boys died in house
fire last night
A nice day. Billie and I went to Norway to exchange Carmen’s
pants. I done regular work. Betty, Walt and kids went and got their Christmas
tree. They got ours too. In evening we went over to Esther’s for Susan’s
birthday. Fern, Lloyd up for supper tonight. We heard awful news tonight. Paul
Hodsdon’s three boys died in a house fire and his wife’s sister.
Sunday, December 12, 1971 Mild temp
Mostly cloudy. I done up regular work. Washed my sheets,
they dried good. I went down to Betty’s to stay with Carmen while they went
down to Dorothea’s. They took their gifts down. Carmen has a bad cough and a
touch of asthma. Took Carmen to doctors for a asthma shot.
Monday, December 13, 1971 Bill to the clinic
Partly cloudy. Bill left at 4:45. The bus leave Portland at
6:20. I did my washing. Pumped the well dry. Betty to Portland. She got bread,
donuts etc. Also a very pretty rug for her living room. I had Carmen and Zak.
Gordon worked at Betty’s, done today. Bill isn’t good at all. He has to go back
tomorrow for more tests and x-rays etc. Es here tonight. Zak cut his forehead,
took him to the doctors for a stitch.
