I cleaned up the house
today.
Friday, December 21, 1956
Bill gave me his check.
Billie and I downtown shopping for Christmas and groceries. School closed today
for 10 days. Billie and I to town, done rest of my Christmas shopping. I
churned today. Billie helped Raymond to get his tree this a.m.

Saturday, December 22, 1956
I cleaned some windows,
wash floors, did some cooking. Downtown in p.m. Brud’s family came up to Kennards
and Dolores today.
Sunday, December 23, 1956
Snowed all day. Billie sold
Jersey cow to Joe Winn. Bill and Billie shoveled and plowed driveway. Mama
didn’t get up very early. Bill had to work tonight. I made fudge and corn
balls. Raymond called in evening. Billie got five dollars from Raymond and Aunt
Linnie. Bob called. Brud and family called.
Monday, December 24, 1956
Cloudy and rain. I cooked
all day. Cleaned up the house. Washed floors, made other preparations for
Christmas. Dorothea’s box came today. Billie did his shopping. The Jersey cow
Cindy went today. Joe Winn bought the cow. Bill didn’t have to work tonight.
Blanche and Joy called.
Those were back in the days when you could go to downtown Bridgton and buy all your presents...AKA BEFORE WALMART
