Thursday, August 8, 1957
A very nice day. I cooked. Went down to Mrs. Dearborn’s
early so as to not have to go tomorrow. I had a nice birthday. $5 from Billie $5
from Mama. Kettle from Betty, singing teakettle from Fern and Lloyd. Also an
aluminum clothes line. Cards from Esther, Cliff, Billie, Susan, Dorothea and Uncle
Os.
Friday, August 9, 1957
A very nice day but hot. Betty, Bill and I went to Portland,
done a little shopping. Betty and Bill got two more parakeets. I got picture
frames. In evening Mama, Bill, Betty, Donnie and I went to Norway. We bought a
new grill. Betty got a pair of shorts and blouse and socks.

Saturday, August 10, 1957
Rained all day. I cleaned up the house. Cooked. Betty and
Norma Gay called today and stayed all night. Bob and Blanche over here in
evening. Donnie nervous again today. Cleared off tonight.
