A wonderful day. Nice and sunny, not too hot, just so my
clothes dried so good. I did my last big wash. I churned and made a cake. Bill
down to Gordon’s after supper. I mailed another package to Betty, also a letter
and her check came. I mailed it to her in Tacoma. Tacoma Washington. Also sent
lighter letter to Esther.

Not so warm, cloudy all day. I ironed, trimmed some grass.
In PM Dot Prescott and Mrs. George Prescott came up and paid for flowers. She
took me to town. I made a orange pie.
Wednesday, June 6, 1962 LETTER FROM BETTS and Mike
Cloudy and showers. I made bread, pudding, baked a ham. I
worked at my desk. A nice letter from Betty and Mike. It had a down beat all
through it. I hope they are all right. A PHONE CALL FROM BETTY. Tonight about
10 PM. She is coming home. I knew by her letter she was worried.
Thursday, June 7, 1962 Carlton’s birthday 37 years
A nice clear cold day. Delores called this morning. I
cleaned up the whole house, got ready to go to the graduation. Been thinking of
Mike and Betty. Poor kids. I know it will be hard for them. Blanche and I to
graduation. David Nevers graduated. One year ago tonight Mike graduated from
Edward Little High School in Auburn. Betty called again.
