Wednesday, April 2, 1969 President Eisenhower buried today
Cold and cloudy. In late p.m. it cleared. I done up regular
work, made a couple pies and tarts. I cooked a chicken stew for supper. I watched
the last of the programs of General Eisenhower’s funeral. He was buried at last
out in Abilene, Kansas from where he started from. He was (I feel) the greatest
man of this country. He liked everyone and everyone liked him. If only there
were more men like him, this country needs them and bad. I called at Aunt Ava’s
this evening.
Thursday, April 3, 1969 Peg, Susan and Betty and Jim
Mild temperatures. A nice sunny day, I washed, finished
reading papers, magazines. Jean comes home today after being away all winter in
Lynn, Massachusetts working. I called at Ferns in evening while Billie went to
get his haircut. Lame back.

I worked at Dorothy’s this forenoon. Pat Linscott called,
Red Cross. I worked at my desk. Got supper, went to town after supper. Fern and
Lloyd called. Been kind of cloudy. Got a Easter card and Norma Gay’s wedding
pictures from Betty today. Kennard called.
