Foggy and cloudy. We left George and Betty’s at 8:15 for Renfree
airport in Glasgow. Arrived there at 11:30. Got our baggage checked, boarded
the plane at 1:00, a little late. Arrived in Dublin out 1:45 in rain and fog.
We ran into a snag. Got standby tickets. When we arrived in Shannon at 3:30 we
discovered we were grounded for overnight, about 15 passengers. A mix up
somewhere. International airlines gave us dinner, a nights lodging at
international hotel and breakfast tomorrow morning.

A fair day. We got up, had breakfast in this elegant hotel.
Went back to the airport and again we waited and we waited. Had a walk through
the gift shop and came back, had lunch. Then went to the deck and a big jet had
landed. Then we were called to the desk and was notified we were to go aboard.
How happy we were. We flew to Newfoundland to refuel then to Boston. Gordon and
Sal made it back there tonight and met us. How glad all were to see us. But the
awful news about Blanche and Christie. Christie was run over and killed tonight a
short time before I came home. Billie felt so bad. We loved her.
