Saturday, September 18, 1993

 

A cloudy day. We had some rain, not enough to do any good. David came this morning to do the chores. Carmen came and did her chores. Brogan here for a little while then she went down to her grandmothers. Carmen came and got the supper. Susan cut Billie’s hair. Cameron is a busy boy all the time. He keeps everyone on the move. I cleaned the toaster of this morning.

 

 

 

Sunday, September 19, 1993

 

A nice sunny day. It was quite windy. Walt came up for coffee. Also David came and did the chores. I read the papers this forenoon, a few other jobs. No one here. Carmen came and did the chores.

 

 

 

Monday, September 20, 1993

 

Cold and windy today. I did some odds and end jobs. I read the papers this morning. The therapist came for Billie today. Verna came and said goodbye. They went back home after being here for two weeks or more so Brud could work on his building up here. Carmen came and done the work today here. Also went to town. Betty came and got the supper, a good one. Walt, Carmen, Zak, Cameron and Brogan here.

 

 

 

Tuesday, September 21, 1993

 

Not too hot today. A real fall day. Carmen came and wanted me to go to the auction at Eleanor Burnham Jones’ estate. She took me in the wheelchair. UgH. It was nice. I enjoyed looking at the things. We came home at about 11:30. Betty and Carmen went, both went back. Carmen went down late p.m. and she didn’t come home till late. She got a lot of boxes of Christmas ornaments etc. Betty got the supper. The two kids were here. Billie got quite upset.

 

September 14 - 17, 1993 Zak's Birthday Without Him!

Carmen came, did her chores and cleaned up the house. Then she had a lot of other things to do. Well Esther left early this morning for Florida. Got there all safe and sound. She stayed at Susan’s so as to get up early and get to the airport at 6:30. Dorothea and Betty went shopping today.

 

 

 

Wednesday, September 15, 1993 Today Is Walter Ambrose Horton IV Birthday. He Is 24 Years

 

A very hot muggy day. At his house they planned a family dinner and they were having lasagna. But the last minute he was asked to work so he was unable to come. Anyway they had the dinner and all was there except Zak. Tom, Kim, Carmen and children. Arnold had to work. They will have some lasagna when Zak comes up again. This morning early I went down to Brogan’s school in Naples. She had to take some work down to her. Betty mowed lawns today. We had a rain shower tonight. Carmen did the shopping today.

 

 

 

Thursday, September 16, 1993

 

A very nice day. Went to Lewiston with Carmen to get Brogan’s Brownie uniform and cap. We had Cameron with us. He was good all day. He would get in and out of his chair harness, crawled to the front seats, blew the horn etc. He is so cute all the time. I hope I’ll be able to go many more times with them. After Brogan got home from school Betty and Walt took her to the fair in Oxford. She liked that.

 

 

 

Friday, September 17, 1993

 

Well it rained today. David came and done chores. Carmen came, took care of Billie and done the housework. Dorothea came and got the supper tonight, first time for several weeks. Susan cut Billie’s hair. I cleaned up some dishes this morning.

Kind of a cloudy, quite a lot of sun. Esther went out with Susan. We cooked chicken for supper. Had shell beans etc. Good supper. Dorothea came and helped to get the supper. Carmen came and did the cleaning. I didn’t do much today. The nurse came to see Billie today.

Kind of a cloudy day, it was Weindy, on the coolside. David came and did the cows. Carmen came and did Billie. He is still very lame in the arm. Esther did a dite of washing. Carmen done floors etc. This has been a very long day.

 

 

 

Sunday, September 12, 1993

 

Well it is cool today. Clear and sunny. Walt was up for coffee. Also David came, did the cows and Zak came later for coffee. Also Carmen came and done the chores. Well Zak is doing very well in his line of work. He likes it. I’m so glad for him. And I hope he does very well. We are waiting to go out to dinner with Esther. Cindy called on us this morning. It has been quite a long day. Billie’s arm is still bad. It was a nice supper, we had tonight for Esther. Betty Smith, Dorothea, Betty Horton, Zak, Verna, Brogan and I were the hostesses. Esther was our supper guest.

 

 

 

Monday, September 13, 1993

 

A beautiful day, it got warmed up middle of forenoon. Then we sat on the porch rest of the day. Well Esther all and ready to go all day. At about 5:30 Susan came and picked Esther up. They were going out to supper then came back to get to bed early because Esther has to leave very early in the morning, Portland airport for Florida. It was quite a summer, all in all. I’ll be glad when she gets home all okay.

 

 

September 6 - 9, 1993 Billie In The Hospital

 

Monday, September 6, 1993

 

Not too warm today. We got a roast pork to cooking for supper. Last night Betty took us for a ride where Brogan goes on her way to school. What a long trip. This has been a long day. Esther was kind of upset over an incident. She had a good supper. No one here except David and done chores. Saw the deer tonight. A fair kind of a day.

 

 

 

Tuesday, September 7, 1993

 

Cloudy this morning. Brogan back to school today after a few days of being a holiday weekend (Labor Day). Billie went to the hospital tonight. He had a gallstone attack. Carmen and Betty took him down. In midafternoon he got very sick to his stomach and vomited almost all afternoon. Very much in pain. Was sick after he got to the hospital. They had the pullets moved into the henhouse tonight. Brogan had a ball helping. She liked it so much, enjoyed doing it.

 

 

 

Wednesday, September 8, 1993

 

Dr. Petrone in to see Billie several times today. Says his condition was bad. They took a lot of x-rays etc. This p.m. Carmen, Betty and I to Norway and got some clothes for Cameron, shoes also. We had done Brogan’s clothes shopping before school began. Carmen, Betty took Bro to the hospital tonight.

Billie came home from the hospital tonight. David and Dorothea went and got him. Carmen and Betty had gone to the movies with Brogan. Esther got the supper, it was good. She was packing her things to go home. Dorothea done the things for Billie.

It was a nice day. I did a dite of washing. Carmen up this morning and done the work. Betty called today. Carmen had customers today. Esther went to town with Susan today.

 

 

 

Friday, September 3, 1993 checks came $499

 

Well it has been a cloudy day. Got some much-needed rain. Carmen came early this morning. She done all the work, cleaned out the whole house, washed. She made out the bills, took the checks to town, cashed them, done some errands. Watched TV shows in p.m. Dorothea came, she took Dorothea to town. Betty called in PM also Susan called. Dorothea here for supper. Billie got news.

Well it cleared away nice. Esther getting ready for the cookout, made some goodies. I didn’t do much as usual. David down to do the cows and had coffee. Carmen came and did her work. Kids here this morning.

 

 

 

Sunday, September 5, 1993

 

A very nice day. It was a very nice party at Susan’s. A big surprise for Esther. After we all got over there a nice car drove into the yard and to Esther’s surprise Chris got out with his wife Missy and their daughter Chrissy. She is a cute curly hair. Everyone was pleased to see them. They had a very good lunch. Everyone enjoyed it all very much and pleased to visit with everyone. Susan has everything fixed up so nice and pretty landscape. She has made it look very nice. Martins, Thomases, Hortons, Harrimans, Smith, three Hortons, Harmon, Webber, and Jane Deming, son and friends, Smith, Esther and I. Betty H took Betty S and me for a long ride afterwards. Carmen did her work here this morning. David and Walt and Zak here for coffee.
