Monday, August 26, 1991

 

A quite nice day. It wasn’t too warm. A beautiful day. It may become milder with this haze coming in. I did the wash this morning. I got Billie’s lunch. Carmen and Brogan came. Carmen got meat out for supper. Arnold worked at Betty’s trimming etc. Betty mowed her lawns before it became hot. Billie was so cold. Susan, Chris, Missy (his wife) and their little baby came and visited. Dorothea called in the evening. Carmen working from 11 to 7 AM tomorrow.

 

 

 

Tuesday, August 27, 1991

 

Well I done a lot of things this a.m. I done regular work. I did a dite of washing. I did a big ironing, swept floors, kitchen and breezeway. Brogan came up and made a brief visit. Later Betty, Bro and Carmen came. We went to Oxford. I guess some vegetables. Also Betty got some vegetables.

 

 

 

Wednesday, August 28, 1991

 

HOT again. Another very hot day. Jason came and began on the back porch to paint it. I didn’t do much today. In PM Eva and Betty called, Carmen, Betty and Brogan. I had to sit inside and not on the porch. Bro and Betty H up to camp. Carmen had to work from 3 to 8. Had another bad shower in early eve besides the one we had in p.m. Said it might be cooler tomorrow.

 

 

August 22 - 25, 1991

 

Thursday, August 22, 1991

 

Well the fog cleared away this morning. It was sunny and then some cloudy came in and it was nice, mild and a very nice day. Billie and Jason picked the shell beans and I shelled them. Will have some for supper. I done up regular work. Carmen came and Betty dropped in also. Billie got his tractor outside for sale. He got a call on it. Up to Carmen’s after supper for Arnold’s 35^th birthday. It was very nice. Joy, Betty and Walt were there. He got a nice lot of gifts.

 

 

 

Friday, August 23, 1991

 

It dawned nice and sunny this morning. David came early and took Billie to get his haircut. I done a washing. Not much going on. Carmen and Brogan came. Brogan a dite worked up I could see. Carm cleaned up the house, came and got the supper. Washed the floor after supper.

 

 

 

Saturday, August 24, 1991

 

A nice day, on the fallish side. I done up my regular work. David came and had coffee. I took a bath. I read the papers. Mixed up tuna fish for Billie’s lunch. I talked with Betty Smith on the phone. A lonesome day. Didn’t see Brogan or no one else. I hate the weekends.

 

 

 

Sunday, August 25, 1991

 

A long weekend. No one here except Betty came in p.m., got supper. Walt here for coffee. It was a quite nice day except on the coolish side. Carmen and Arnold and his family gone to the beach all day.

Monday, August 19, 1991 MR. BOB CAME

 

HURRICANE. A bad hurricane arrived here, it came up the Atlantic coast. It was a fast-moving one and bad too. Right here it could have been worse. Bad enough though. We were lucky we didn’t lose our electric power. Dorothea and David did and many many other people. Betty and Carmen came, prepared us for this hurricane. Stayed in the house instead of the porch.

 

 

 

Tuesday, August 20, 1991

 

Nice and sunny all forenoon. In p.m. it got cloudy. Today Arthur and Sylvia Andrews called, brought us some cukes. Early 7:30 to 8 Dorothea called, also Carmen came. She, Betty and I went up to see the rabbits. Also to see the tree (the old Maple) down home. It sure got gutted out during the bad storm yesterday.

 

 

 

Wednesday, August 21, 1991

 

Quite cloudy all day, some rain and showers. I did a dite of wash. No one called today. Carmen had to go to work at three so I got the supper. She brought up sloppy Joe’s. Verna down to Betty’s all p.m.

It was a very nice day. Arnold and Jason cleaned the well out. Brogan happy this morning riding in the truck with Betty. Also had a good time, so happy until she got home and got in trouble when she got to playing with BJ. Betty got her lawns mowed.

 

 

 

Friday, August 16, 1991

 

Carmen didn’t have to work today or tonight. Our water didn’t come this morning. I got rest of the B news read today.

 

 

 

Saturday, August 17, 1991

 

David down for coffee and visited. I done regular work. I wrote to Esther and sent it. Also got the B news ready to send. Betty and Walt gone to Betty’s 30^th class reunion tonight at Shawnee Peak. I got a nice phone call. Zac called this p.m. It was good talking to him. He is still working. He and his girlfriend went to the park on a picnic. Dorothea called this evening. Back at the work. Arnold took care of Brogan. Tried the pump, it didn’t work. I called Williams (plumber).

 

 

 

 

August 10 - 13, 1991 Norma and Jason Leave

 

Saturday, August 10, 1991 Jason Knick 15 yesterday

 

At last good rain has come. It rained very hard all night and all day. Then early evening it cleared off in early evening. I got the work done up early, and got ready and went to the airport, Betty H, Betty S and I. We took Norma and Jason to leave for California. We called at Zack’s new home, found him very well settled and in a nice apartment. Very neat and clean. It looks so nice. He came home with us to be at the 81^st holiday party of the old old lady. David here for coffee and fixed pump.

 

 

 

Sunday, August 11, 1991

 

Well Norma and Jason got home okay. Today my 81^st birthday was celebrated at Twin Oaks. I got nice gifts, money, candy, a new hassock, beautiful cards. The whole family was there. A nice cookout. It was very nice and I appreciate it all very much. I have a nice family. Kind and thoughtful.

A nice day. Cool and very comfortable. I did the washing and regular work. Carmen got supper tonight.

Another nice day, not too uncomfortable. Betty took Billie to the doctor today. I did my ironing.
