August 8 - 11, 1965 Nanny's Birthday

Sunday, August 8, 1965

Today we done regular work then took a ride and back down to Ferns and all of them had a very nice birthday dinner for me. Very nice. Complete surprise. Mike worked.

Monday, August 9, 1965

Dorothea and I washed. Kind of cloudy. Clothes dried. Rained off and on. Mike worked at Linscott’s. Aunt Ava called, we picked shell beans.

Tuesday, August 10, 1965

RAIN. Thunder showers. Real heavy showers in evening. Dorothea over to Aunt Ava’s for afternoon and very late evening. Betty, Carmen, Jeff and I called on Fern in evening.

Wednesday, August 11, 1965

Rain showers. We did some cooking. Randy Harmon and brother called. In evening Betty and I, Jeff and Carmen over to Aunt Ava’s and showed them the slides. Dorothea over there all p.m.

August 4 - 7, 1965

Another nice sunny day. Very dry. Dorothea, Jeff, Nola, Carmen, Betty and I all went down to see Dr. Nash, Donnie, over to The Desert of Maine and back out to the fish hatchery and wild animal farm at Gray. Betty, Dorothea and kids down swimming after supper. Susan down with Nancy. George Dyer died today.

Thursday, August 5, 1965

Hot today. I cooked. Bill home at noon sick. Dorothea done the ironing. In p.m. we went over to Crystal Lake to swim with rest of the folks. Had shell beans and corn for supper. Up to the trailer after supper.

Friday, August 6, 1965

HOT HOT AND DRY

No rain, it is so awful hot. Dorothea, Jeff and I called on Jean, George and Thena and the Bracketts. Came home, had a salad. Betty took me to town. Fern, Es and Billie called. Dorothea, Betty, Jeff, Carmen and I over to Harrison swimming. Es and Billie went too.

Saturday, August 7, 1965 VERY HOT No Rain

Done regular work. Dorothea and I, Jeff, Betty and Carmen to town. Es, Fern, Billie and Nancy here for supper. Billie haying for Lawrence and came home mad and ugly. Bill, Dorothea, Betty, Mike, Carmen and Jeff gone away swimming in p.m. Billie off tonight.

Had the usual beans etc. Dorothea and I to town in p.m. No one done much. Hayd not too good.

Sunday, August 1, 1965

Up kind of late, done regular work. Es called. In p.m. D, B, J, C, and me all went for a short ride. Carmen got hurt. I done my hair, blackened. Bill and Dorothea took her to hospital, not serious.

Monday, August 2, 1965

Did regular wash, didn’t have too much. Betty helped today. Also we picked and froze shell beans. On the cloudy side. Es and Billie up. Dorothea to the dog show with Barb and Nancy to Portland in evening.

Tuesday, August 3, 1965

Another dry sunny day, need rain awful bad. Cooked, churned, picked greens. In evening Dorothea, Betty, kids and I out for a short ride. Fern, Es, and Billie called in evening. Nola and Cathy called. Bill lame.

July 27 - 30, 1965

Tuesday, July 27, 1965

Picked some peas. Es and Fern up in evening. Didn’t do much today. Just puttered around, made preparations to go on the picnic tomorrow.

Wednesday, July 28, 1965

A beautiful day. Fern, Lloyd, Es, Delores, Dorothea, Verna, Betty, Mike, Susan, Billie, Nola Raye, Jeff S., Nona, Jeff A., Cathy, Carmen and I all went on a picnic over to Crooked River on the Norway Road. Had a very good time.

Dorothea 28 today. Betty, Nola, Dorothea, Jeff and I to town. Betty got Dorothea’s birthday gifts. I made a cake. We had a supper of fried smoked pork chops. Birthday cake and ice cream. Also Fern, Es and Billie came up.

Friday, July 30, 1965

I done up regular work. Cleaned the house all over today. Dorothea away with Barb. Betty, Susan and Carmen up to trailer. Mike worked. To town in evening. Betty took me.

Friday, July 23, 1965

A very nice day. Dorothea, Jeff and I to town after supper. Cleaned up the whole house. Picked peas and beans. Joy and girls left this morning early for home. Ruth took them to Boston to take a train. Went down to Patsy Crams in Casco.

Saturday, July 24, 1965

A very hot humid day. Done up regular work. Billie worked this forenoon. Bill and I down in the woods. Had an early supper and off to the races at Oxford Speedway. Es, Dorothea, Betty, Mike, Jeff and I. We all enjoyed it very much. Also Susan and Stanley.

Sunday, July 25, 1965

A very hot humid day. We took a picnic lunch and went around for a picnic. Finally ate over to North Bridgton beach. Dorothea, Mike, Betty and Jeff in swimming.

Monday, July 26, 1965

A very nice day. Dorothea helped with all my washing and housework. She did all of my ironing in PM. We had a tremendous big wash and got it all out before noon. Betty took me to town in p.m. Also up to Lil’s. Billie got Hayd’s cow home tonight to keep for him while he is in the hospital. TooMaine not very good today. Susan down to work with Nancy.

July 19 - 22, 1965

Monday, July 19, 1965 Water

A nice day. I washed. Dot and Lorraine called. Had string beans for supper, very good. Star, the beef went today, another one came. In evening Verna and children called. Also tonight Bill got the water to running at Betty and Mike’s trailer. Hot water also. Billie got a brockle faced steer from Lawrence tonight. Jeff busy all day. Dorothea over to Norway with Barb tonight.

On the cold side all day. Done up the work. Finished the ironing. Dorothea fixed my hair dark brown color. Joy took us to Naples for a treat. Up to the trailer. Picked berries and greens. Up to Bob’s tonight for the slides. Very good. Dorothea and Jeff having a good time.

A nice day, didn’t do much today. Dorothea, Jeff and I over to the brook in a.m. Didn’t do very much in p.m. Es, Billie and Fern up in evening. Susan up to Nancy’s.

Thursday, July 22, 1965

A very nice day. Dorothea, Jeff and I over to the brook to get some pollywog’s. Came home, made preparations for a cookout for the farewell party for Joy and children. Had Fern and Es and Billie up.
