October 7 - 10, 1965

Thursday, October 7, 1965

A fair, some cloudy, day. Not too cold. Betty, Carmen and I went to the fair at Fryeburg. Holly and her two boys went with us. A nice time. A very nice fair, a lot of cattle and horses. Fern cooked our supper, pot roast. Got the deed back from Mike all signed.

Friday, October 8, 1965 PULLETS

A good rain, it began raining in the night very heavy. Rained hard all day long. We need it so bad. I got my work done. Betty done most of it. We got ready and went to East Stoneham and got the pullets. Betty, Billie, Carmen and I all went. Very nice looking pullets. I’m so glad to get them. Had a nice ride.

Saturday, October 9, 1965 Mike came, five eggs

A nice day. I done up my regular work. Made rolls, butter, baked beans. Over to Norway to take the deed over to the trailer Schiavi’s. Betty, Carmen and I came home. Fern here for supper. In evening Fern and Betty played Monopoly. Don Roak’s called and another guy to see the trailer and car. Dave Newhall down to play games. About 10 or 1030 Mike came. He wants to come back. I hope things work out for the best. They need to be together. That will be their decision.

Sunday, October 10, 1965 six eggs

Sunny in early a.m. Didn’t get up too early. It clouded up. I fixed Bill’s pants. Bill and Billie put porch windows on. Billie hauled water for cows. I washed porch windows, rest of trailer windows. Kennie and Dot called. Carmen got a cold.

October 3 - 6, 1965

Sunday, October 3, 1965

A nice day, we worked up in the shed chamber. Took up our dahlias, put away the picnic table. Linda Berry called and Dot, Kennard and David.

Monday, October 4, 1965.

 A very nice day but WINDY and COLD. I got up, went to Norway with Fern and Lloyd. Lloyd got him some work clothes, we called at Haywood Lucks. Had a lunch at Barjo’s. Came home, got supper and Betty and I down town and done our washing. Our well down again tonight. Fern went too and done hers. Tree blew over out here tonight. Bill very lame tonight. Billie done a lot of his odd and end jobs for fall.  Mike $20 trailer payments made today.

Tuesday, October 5, 1965

A very cold and windy day. Bill home very lame. He, Billie and Lloyd hauled a tree off which blew over out here. Betty, Carmen and I over to Norway in PM and got some clothes for Carmen. Betty had a check for Mike yesterday.

Wednesday, October 6, 1965

A beautiful day, not quite as cold. Fern and I spent the day at George and Thena’s. Had a very good time. Came home, had supper, picked over some more boxes. Billie didn’t work at Chet’s. He cleaned up and done more fall work. It looks very clean all around.

September 29 - October 2, 1965

Wednesday, September 29, 1965

Another nice day, kind of cloudy in a.m. Sun came out, not too cold. We worked up in the shed chamber again today. Betty, Carmen and I to the dump after supper. David and Will went with us. Also to town in evening for cigs. Billie worked at Chet’s.

Thursday, September 30, 1965

Clear and cold this morning. A heavy frost all around. Went down to Corliss and got the new dad. Holly and children were here today. Billie worked at Chet’s today. Bill down to see Charles Elliott to come up and fix trailer. Called at Ferns in evening.

Friday, October 1, 1965

At last a good rain came. Rained hard all day. Done up regular work. Betty got a letter back from Welfare Department. Betty got a phone call from the Knitting Mill to go back to work. Was very sorry she couldn’t. I’m going to make plans to go to Michigan. Mrs. Popham paid the rent of September 5 to October 5. $50.00.

Saturday, October 2, 1965

A beautiful day. I got my work done up early. Bill home for lunch and went to bed lame. Billie up to Chet’s. Betty to Portland, bought a 1957 Ford. I cooked a lot today. Fern up for supper and evening.

Rained hard all last night. Got my work done up early. Herbie Hartford called here this morning.

Sunday, September 26, 1965

A nice day, Bill up early and away. Betty, Carmen and I went for a ride. Mrs. Lowe and David went. Betty sold her camera.

Monday, September 27, 1965

I washed. Got it done in good season. Betty down with Lloyd to do his. I went to town in p.m. Billie got a lot of his washing outside work done. Killed the old hens. A heavy frost tonight they say. It is very cold.

Tuesday, September 28, 1965

A very heavy frost last night, as low as 25° last night. This morning I went to town with Lloyd and Fern. Went to see Corliss, got some socks for Carmen. Didn’t do very much today. Betty all upset in buying a car. I hope she gets one.

September 21 - 24, 1965

Tuesday, September 21, 1965

HOT 80 – 95, very hot all day. We went down, called on Fern and Lloyd. Billie mowed lawns. Betty and I did the ironing. Had a cold supper outside on the picnic table. Sat on the front porch in evening.

Wednesday, September 22, 1965

Another hot day. 90-100 degrees temperatures. Churned, done up regular work. Didn’t do too much, it was too hot. Fern, Lloyd called. Mrs. Tina Lowe and Lil. In evening I went over to Aunt Ava’s in evening.

Thursday, September 23, 1965

Another very Hot humid day. I did my washing. Betty got clothes in and ironed after supper. I called on Aunt Ava and Uncle Lewis a minute.

Friday, September 24, 1965

Cloudy today, not so hot. I done up the regular work. I worked at my desk. In evening Betty and I to town. Billie mowed rest of the lawns. Took down the field fence.
