Friday, July 30, 1993

 

Today we got blueberries. Froze some, kept some for pies and biscuits. Carmen came and did the cleaning also Dorothea came. The house looks very good. Billie mowed the lawns. The grass has grown in good. Jeff dropped in today to say goodbye. No showers tonight here, they were bad in New Hampshire.

 

 

 

Saturday, July 31, 1993

 

A quite nice day, it was a dite on the hot side at times. Carmen and David here this morning. Esther made a loaf of nut bread and a good blueberry pie. We were out on the porch all day. Betty dropped in a few minutes to show us her new clothes she bought today. Susan and Brogan called a little while this evening. Today Paul Field came and mowed the pasture. Also at Betty’s. Carmen and Kim made root beer today. Brogan here tonight.

 

 

 

Sunday, August 1, 1993

 

A very nice sunny day. A long day. Betty called in p.m. David and Walt here for coffee this morning. We were out on the porch most of the day with the air-conditioning going. Carmen up in evening, also later Patty, Ray and Betty called. Esther had a good supper. Brogan here tonight.

 

 

Monday, August 2, 1993

 

It was cloudy and foggy all morning then in PM it became sunny, hot and humid. Watched programs. Betty, Walt and guests all gone for the day to celebrate  their anniversary. Esther been very busy all day. Watched all TV stories today. Carmen came this morning and the kids. She did all the cleaning, changed the beds. Also she and Carmen went to the town. We had thunder showers and rain and wind at supper time.

Monday, July 26, 1993

 

Quite a very nice day. It was cloudy in p.m. May rain tonight we hope. Well been busy all day, not me. Esther and Betty have. Esther done a lot. Betty washed, swept and dusted. Betty had a good supper, tenderloin steaks, cooked to a perfection. Walt came up. Esther enjoyed the supper. Tom got good news on his report today. I’m very pleased. Also Susan got a very good mark on her report today. Proud of them both. Brogan stayed at her grandparents tonight. She had her fireworks up here.

 

 

 

Tuesday, July 27, 1993

 

At last it is raining which we need so bad. We are so glad to see it. Mr. Dan Knox called to see Billie about getting aid taking care of himself. Kim came up this morning and was here all a.m. It was good she was here. I only see her occasionally. Also Carmen and two were here while Knox talked with Billie. Carmen is smart on things like that.

 

 

 

Wednesday, July 28, 1993

 

This has been a very nice sunny day and very hot all day. Dan Knox called here today to talk to Billie to see if he can get some help. Well today we made preparations for a birthday get together for Dorothea’s 56^th birthday. Betty and Esther went to Norway and got some fresh vegetables, string beans, corn, fresh tomatoes. Also two roasting chickens. It was a very well cooked supper. Dorothea, David, Betty, Walt, Zak, Betty Smith, Susan, Tom, Esther, Carmen, Brogan, Cameron, Billie and me. Jeff came later. Two nice cakes, ice cream. She got a lot of money.

 

 

 

Thursday, July 29, 1993 Dorothea’s 56^th birthday

 

Showers tonight. All day we had a lot of rain, heavy at times. Carmen came early, she did a few things. Then she got a piece of corned beef and cabbage. We had that for supper. A good supper. Esther made cookies today. Today Betty called, she made chicken sandwiches. She and Walt were going to Portland to meet Zac and take him with them out to eat. Also they are going to see about getting him a bigger apartment size so he can have a chance to use his drawing board. He is doing fine in his drawing work. Tonight we had heavy thundershowers. Dorothea and David to Portland to get bedding. Shredded paper.

Thursday, July 22, 1993

 

Well it was nice and sunny most all day. In p.m. it began to cloud up and in pm we got some welcome rain showers. Also had rain last night. It will take a lot of rain to get the ground back to normal. Well I took a bath this morning and got ready to go to the doctor. Carmen took me. Well the doctor started me at on pills again. I feel much better now than I have. Carmen working tonight.

A nice day, some clouds around. On the coolish side. Dorothea came and done up weekly cleaning. Carmen came and did the chores. Betty and Walt had company. They all went out for supper. Billie and Jane came. Esther out to breakfast with them. Also they all went out for supper. Joy and Zak called this evening. Zak is so pleased about his school and the new job he is going to have.

 

 

 

Saturday, July 24, 1993

 

Quite hot today. Esther did cookies, cake, Indian pudding and a mac & cheese. It all was delicious. Dorothea came and got the supper tonight. She too made a delicious meatloaf. Today Betty and her friend who has been visiting called a minute. Also Zac called to see us. Monica called Esther tonight and talked, it was good hearing her voice. Brogan had a slumber party tonigh, st her first one. Her guest was Megan King and Leanne Martin.

 

 

 

Sunday, July 25, 1993

 

It has been a quite nice day, clear and some clouds. Not much going on here except the pump went to pieces. So now we got to get the plumber. Hope he comes tomorrow. Esther got the meals, had a real early supper. Walt came and changed our pump over to the one in the barn well. David came this morning and done the chores. Also Carmen came early, she dressed Billie’s feet, put the drops in his eyes. Ronald dropped in on his way back home.

A nice sunny day, very warm. David and Walt came for coffee. Dorothea called this morning on her way to work. Carmen and children called. Also Zak and Cameron with him, baby a dite fussy. Walt and two children were up early. Kids stayed down there all night. Theo Sanborn died this morning.

 

 

 

Monday, July 19, 1993

 

Another clear day, hot at times. Well Betty came and did the cleaning. She got the supper to going she and Esther. Esther up this morning and got the icebox cookies baked off, very good. David here this morning to do the chores. Tonight Walt, Cameron, Brogan here for supper. Baby is still upset, it could be the change of his milk.

 

 

 

Tuesday, July 20, 1993 TEETH PULLED

I am feeling much better. My food tastes much better. I must be gaining weight. David called this morning. Walt, kids and Betty took Walt out for a birthday supper. Carmen and Esther over to Norway or Oxford, got some vegetables. Well today we got some rain. Walt’s 65^th birthday. They took him out to supper tonight, his family.

 

 

 

Wednesday, July 21, 1993 MILAN ELLIOTT SMITH 74 YEARS

 

We had a good rain last night. Also some yesterday a.m. I was on the porch today. It was a nice clear day, I dite of a thunder shower. Some rain late p.m. Carmen to town to do the shopping. Carmen got the supper, it was a very good one. Today Betty and Walt gone away to meet some friends in Ellsworth Maine. Dorothea came and called a minute.

Wednesday, July 14, 1993 TODAY I CAME FROM HOSPITAL, THANK THE LORD

 

Well I was so glad to get back. PILLS PILLS. I hate them, they make me so sick. I rested after I got home. Betty came and got me. Dorothea had a delicious supper. Very hot. Betty Crook and Walt called. Esther came. We all was glad to see her. She had a good trip home. Susan picked her up. I’m sorry I was in such shape. Today it is much cooler. Esther is still tired, not too bad.

This is a real coolish summer day. I am getting better. I ate good today. I’ll be glad when I get all okay. Carmen had to work today. Walt brought Brogan here from her swimming lessons. Dorothea came and got the supper. She and Esther.

 

 

 

Friday, July 16, 1993

 

Well we had a good day. It was sunny, cloudy and some late showers. Betty came and got the supper tonight. Very good. Well I done nothing all day as usual. I’m feeling better, but it is so long getting some strength.

 

 

 

Saturday, July 17, 1993

 

We are having nice weather, not that extreme heat. It was cloudy and scud or two, not enough rain to do a might of good. Dorothea and Betty here all day. Dorothea cleaned up the house. Betty was here helping Richard Ward to get plugs put in. It has been a busy day here. Carmen and kids here a little while. I had a good lunch. We had a good supper. And Zak came at about supper time. He ate with us. We were pleased about that. Went to bed kind of early.
