Tuesday, February 5, 1991 Carmen 28 years

 

Well Carmen came and done the chores etc. I washed Kassie’s bed. I done regular work. Kim came and cleaned Kassie’s bed and took her to vets and went after her. Well tonight Betty had a birthday supper for Carmen. They had as guests Arnold and his children, Tom and Charlene, Zack and Brogan. They had a good supper and good time. She got a lot of nice gifts, which she was very pleased.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wednesday, February 6, 1991

 

Cloudy. Cliff’s Birthday today. Billie sick today. Dorothea and Betty called, they took his blood pressure. Carmen and Brogan here. Carmen gone to do the shopping. I wrote out the store list.

 

 

 

Thursday, February 7, 1991

 

Well I done regular work. Carmen came for a little while. Dorothea and Betty called. Betty is quite shook up, her eyes are not too good. It is cloudy and rainy. Dorothea took Betty Smith to the doctor in Norway where she will have her operation. Billie is better today and okay. Joyce, the nurse, came to see him today to check his blood pressure, sugar etc. Not good news about Zack.

Very nice sunny day. It was 10 below this morning, but warmed up during the day. I done regular housework. David came for coffee. He is having problems with his back, serious and it may be a long while before he goes back to work. Walt came up to see David about Zack doing trucking. Carmen came about noon and done chores. I read papers, worked at desk. Sent Cliff  and Carmens’ birthday cards.

A very nice March day. Just like March. I’ve been busy doing letters, bills etc. Walt here for coffee. Betty came up and brought Billie a box for his papers. Betty and Dorothea here in p.m. Took Billie’s blood pressure and Betty fixed his box

 

 

 

Monday, February 4, 1991

 

A nice sunny day. I sent the bills out today. Carmen took them. And done regular work. Carmen came and done some work. She is excited as she is going out to supper with Arnold as a birthday gift from Betty and Walt. She enjoyed their evening very much. He is a nice guy, but problems.

January 29 - February 1, 1991

 

Tuesday, January 29, 1991 WEDDING DRESS

 

A beautiful day, sunny day, not too cold. Carmen, Betty, Kim and Brogan went to Portland for wedding dress for the upcoming wedding. Kim, Carmen, Betty and Brogan. Kim and Carmen dresses are on order. Kim and Brogan brought theirs home. Well this wedding is getting on to the road, other things are done. Well I got a boiled dinner to going. David here this morning. Betty, Walt, Carmen, Brogan and Betty Smith here for supper. We listen to President Bush speaks to the nation tonight.

 

 

 

Wednesday, January 30, 1991

 

A quiet day, quite a nasty day. It’s cloudy and rain. In PM it cleared away. Walt and Carmen to Windham to Carmen’s lawyer. Had some paperwork done. In p.m. she did my shopping. War news not good, several Mainers killed. It is awful, this war. I didn’t do much of anything today. Billie about the same. I called Dorothea and David. David is having a problem with his back.

 

 

 

Thursday, January 31, 1991

 

Snow all around this morning. It snowed a lot during the night. I done up regular work. Arnold came and plowed the yard. Carmen to the court, to the judge and got her child custody papers. A big relief to her. I hope now she can get on with her life. I wish now the right man would come along for her and complete her life. Betty H dropped in for a while.

Checks came. Carmen came and done a lot of work today. Cooked, cleaned the house. She made a cake and chocolate pudding. I didn’t do much myself today. Carmen took checks down and cashed them. Dorothea called in p.m. Also in evening. Betty came and had lunch.

Nice and sunny. I done regular work, washed. Dorothea came and cut Billie’s fingernails. Checked over his paperwork.

I done up the work. My legs fair. I baked beans, made loaf bread. David came for coffee. I got most of the puzzle done. Brogan stayed at Betty’s tonight. They called here in evening.

 

 

 

Sunday, January 27, 1991

 

A quite nice day, very cold. I done regular work. Walt didn’t come for coffee. Brogan was there. Carmen called, done chores. Betty here, got Billie’s spaghetti ready, cooked me two dropped eggs. I finished puzzle. I wrote Billie Deming and Esther.

It snowed in the night last night. Snowing when we got up but it cleared up. Carmen got her hair done. I done regular work, washed. Brogan down to her grandmother ‘s while Carmen gone. Carmen’s hair looks very nice. She is a very nice-looking girl.

It was cloudy in a.m. I got the work done up. Joyce Ballard called to see Billie. Zack came this morning. He had breakfast. He is going to the dentist. Carmen, Brogan and Betty here also. Betty to the dentist also. Zack worked on the puzzle. I finished it this p.m. Kim is sick with the flu. Carmen and Brogan sick today. I got most of the supper tonight. Billie’s feet are not good.

Nice and sunny this morning. Very cold, zero. I did my washing etc. Carmen, Brogan came, did the chores, took our letters to mail. She did the hens. Came got Billie’s and my lunch then came back later, got supper. We put the puzzle away. Brogan got the last one out. Kim better from the flu

 

 

 

Wednesday, January 23, 1991

 

Got the news this morning that Peter McKernan died last night after a very severe heart attack he had suffered a week ago. It is too bad, everyone feels sorry. He was such a smart young man. I worked on puzzle today, watch the war news as it came over the TV. Carmen came today.

 

 

 

Thursday, January 24, 1991

 

A nice sunny day, on the cold side. I didn’t do much of anything. I worked on the puzzle about all day. Got a good chunk done. Carmen came. She came, got the lunch, also the supper. Betty and Brogan called in the evening. Carmen called by her lawyer to come in and see him. Good news. Dennis has given up and not going to see Brogan for two years. Carmen is quite shook up.
