Bad showers all forenoon. Got word from Mrs. Lida Randall today that Donnie’s mother in the hospital seriously ill. She got shot through her eyes.

Wednesday, September 8, 1954

Cloudy. School began today. Quite a relief.

Thursday, September 9, 1954

Got letter from Dorothea. Didn’t do much today except to cook a little.

Friday, September 10, 1954

Cloudy all day. Churned. Been giving hurricane warning is all day for 5 one of season called Edna. Bill came home quite lame. Got ready tonight for the hurricane.

Saturday, September 11, 1954 Edna Hurricane

A very rough day. High winds, hurricane force and heavy rains. Floods in some places. We had just heavy rain and awful wind. I cooked some, washed kitchen floor. No radio programs just warning weather programs etc. had radio on all day. Billie late getting home.
