Wednesday, September 1, 1954
Nice day after the bad storm. Hurricane Carol. This morning
Dorothea left us for her last year of school at Norton High. Phil Autio took
her as far as Portland to take bus. Brud met her in Boston. Got to Cleveland where
Es met her at 5:25 Thursday a.m. No power after storm. Missed Dorathea all day.
Uncle Os and Fern called.
Thursday, September 2, 1954
Nice day, still no power this morning, came on about 2 PM.
Dot Prescott called in eve. Didn’t do much work. Kail came up to stay until
Saturday. Thinking of Dorothea all day. Miss her. We took our deep-freeze
things down to Kennie’s.
Friday, September 3, 1954
Went to Portland for Betty to have her eyes tested. Kail
went with us.
Saturday, September 4, 1954
Good day. Worked, cooked etc. Went to town in p.m. Phil
hauled rest of the hay. Billie and Chet haying down to Blake’s. Edna H here in
eve. Also Fleck family came for Kail. Fern, Lloyd and Raymond here.
Sunday, September 5, 1954
Very good day, quite hot. Raked, cleaned up the yards. Also
mowed lawns. Lloyd hauled off the limbs etc. Irene and Dennis called this
evening.
Monday, September 6, 1954 Labor Day
Very nice day. Washed, churned, put shell beans in deep
freeze. Ironed at night.
