January 13 - 16, 1965

Wednesday, January 13, 1965 Wood  Ferns Teeth

A nice day. Fern went to Dr. Noble and had three teeth pulled. Today 1 ¼ cords wood came from Bud Main’s. Didn’t do much except watch TV. Billie and I put wood in tonight, most of it. Letter from Susan. Billie called at Fern’s in evening.

Thursday, January 14, 1965

Nice and clear, got much colder today. Letter from Es, first one since she went back. Mike and I put rest of the wood in. Called at Fern’s in evening. Wind blowed so hard all day. Betty and Mike fishing for a little while, too cold.

Friday, January 15, 1965 20 Below

Very cold this morning. Betty and Mike’s car only one would start. Betty took Bill to work. Water froze in the barn. To town for Billie. Called at Fern and Lloyd’s. Bill got his first check after the raise, taking home pay $69.86. It was $57.99. $5.70 and $2.84 was taken from his pay which makes a total of $78.40.

Saturday, January 16, 1965 Kitchen chimney burned out

Cloudy all day and cold. I cooked, done up the housework. The kitchen chimney burned out. Still awful cold. Bill and Billie worked on the water pipes but didn’t get them thawed out.
