September 27 - October 1, 1959 Hen Killing Time



Sunday, September 27, 1959

Warm, a little hazy. Bill and I up to Dot and Forrests’. Billie and I downtown, got paper, called at Aunt Ava’s. Billie picked apples. Bill fixed furnace. Blanche called.



Monday, September 28, 1959

A very nice day, I washed. Clothes dried good. In p.m. I went to Mr. Vincent Yates funeral with Aunt Ava and Uncle Lewis. In p.m. Bob and Blanche called.

Tuesday, September 29, 1959 Letter and Snaps from Adair’s, The heifer went today to be dressed


On the cloudy side. Churned and canned tomatoes. Got a letter from Dorothea. They are going to England. Got some nice pictures from them. Heifer went today, dressed 468 pounds.



Wednesday, September 30, 1959

Hot today, cloudy. I cooked and ironed. Billie and I began to kill the hens tonight.



Thursday, October 1, 1959

Rain today, cooler. I cleaned up the shed chamber. Did some other odd jobs. Cleaned up the upstairs. Billie and I finished the hens. Tonight Bill helped to clean the hens. Raymond over in evening.
