The blog posts below are taken from my grandmother's diaries. Althea Green Smith Crook was lovingly referred to as Nanny to her immediate family ~ thus her diaries are called Nanny's Diaries.

Nanny wrote in her diaries when she remembered to - mostly in the evening. There will be some years in which she didn't keep diaries and there will also be some days/weeks in her yearly diaries in which she skipped or forgot to write in them. For the most part, these are her words - written as she wrote them. There will be typos, forgotten punctuation, and other grammatical errors - but I am rewriting these as my Nanny originally wrote them.

As with all old handwriting, there are some entries that I can't quite make out - and these entries will be followed with a (?) to signify that this may or may not be correct or I can't figure out what she is trying to write.

Thank you Nanny for leaving us 50 years worth of memories! We miss you!

June 28 - 29, 1994 Betty Milne Leave, Nanny Goes to Airport- her last outing

Tuesday, June 28, 1994 Betty Milne home to Scotland today, written by Dorothea

Dorothea in early, and gave me a bath, breakfast and I felt good after being so tired last night. Decided to go to the airport to see Betty Milne leave for Scotland. We had lunch at airport restaurant. I had fish and chips, it was good too. Zak was at airport when we got there to get me in wheelchair. He and Betty Milne confirmed her flight. I rode down and back with Carmen and Cameron. Betty, Betty M and Dorothea rode in Betty’s car. While waiting for Betty’s plane, we watched the planes come and go. Cameron was so good and enjoyed watching the flight lines and planes etc. Well we will miss Betty M. She is such good fun and enjoyed her visit this summer. Glad she was here for the wedding shower. On way home from the airport Carmen stopped and got some fresh peas and we also had ice cream. Then picked BJ up at Highland Lake. Home and took the nap.

It is a fair kind of a day, on the muggy side. Carmen went to town and done the shopping. Kids went with her. I had a very nice day, felt quite good. Carmen got the supper. It was a good one.
