June 17 - 19, 1974 Saying Good Bye to Christie

Monday, June 17, 1974 Two Cats

A very miserable day. Betty, Kim, Zak and I went to Portland and Scarborough. Kimmy did some shopping. She had such a good time. Dorothea went with us. It was cloudy but it didn’t rain. Carmen stayed home because she had cold and a slight attack of asthma. Bill worked on the barn. Betty got two cats, one a small kitten.

Tuesday, June 18, 1974 Christie very sick

Well after a little rain it cleared today. I washed, made a lemon pie. Defrosted my refrigerator. Betty called. Kimmy, Lloyd. Betty down to Sandy Smith. In evening Hortons called. Bill worked on the barn doors today and Billie helped tonight. Today Christie has been very weak and hasn’t eaten a thing. I call Dr. Gauger. He is coming tomorrow.

Wednesday, June 19, 1974 CHRISTIE CROOK WENT TODAY 9 years and 8 months

Today Dr. Charles Gauger put Christie to sleep at 2:50 PM. She was very weak and very sick. She has been poorly for the past month and over. She has been with us for nine years eight months. She was a very good, kind, gentle and faithful dog. We all loved her and glad to have had her with us for so long. It doesn’t seem possible she has gone. We miss her and always will. She had a good home with us and it was just like one of the family to lose her.
It has been a very nice day. Bill got a lot done on the barn, ceiling and doors. Dawn has been down to Betty’s today. Kim up here and Zak. Carmen gone to her friends for the PM. I got the house all cleaned and disinfected after Christie went.
