January 28 - 31, 1974

Monday, January 28, 1974

Another one of those very nice sunny days. I done my work up, down to Betty’s. We went to Portland to do shopping for Carmen’s birthday. Dorothea went with us. Bill hauled some gravel for Betty’s driveway.

Tuesday, January 29, 1974

Another one of those very nice sunny mild days. I done up my work and went down to Betty’s to help her. We washed, cleaned up her house etc. Wrapped Carmen’s gifts.

Wednesday, January 30, 1974 40s again today

It was cloudy in a.m. but cleared off nice and mild. We went to Windham. Fern went with us. We bought some Italian sandwiches at Amato’s.

Thursday, January 31, 1974 very mild 40s and above

Another one of those very nice sunny days. I done up my regular work, went down to Betty’s. She took Zak to school and took Fern shopping and to do some errands. I went with them.

This is been a wonderful month weatherwise. Some snow first of the month so they did some skiing over on the mountain. For much of this month it has been very mild temperatures and warm rain which took most of the snow off. A lot of bare ground. David R Thomas of Bridgton died on New Year’s Day. He is Dorothea’s husband’s father. We all felt so bad. He was a young person, 58. Also this month Walter bought a brand-new truck, 1974 Chevrolet with snow plow and four-wheel-drive. Also Jeff bought him a new car. His first one. Billie got a raise at where he works. Jeff arrived home from Michigan after a Christmas vacation. Daylight savings time came up again. Zak in hospital one night, kidney infection.
