Wednesday, August 8, 1973 Hot and Humid

It was a very hot and humid day. I done up regular work, went to town. Betty, George, Bill and I came home and I worked all afternoon making preparations for a cookout supper. The Horton family, Thomas family and Crook families here. I got a brand-new croquet set, a store full of underwear, candies, desk equipment, pencils pens, markers etc. A very pretty dress. A bottle of cream lotion, $10 in money and some nice beautiful cards. Had a beautiful cake made by Dorothea. A very nice time etc. We saw George’s slides. Stan called to say goodbye to the folks.

Thursday, August 9, 1973 BETTY AND GEORGE LEFT

We left at about 6:00 AM to go to the airport to take Betty and George back. We got there about 7:15 and soon Dorothea and Dave came. We all had a nice visit. Betty drove us down. At about 8:30 they went on to their plane. We watched them go. Then we came home about 9:30. I changed the beds, cleaned up the house, got things back in order. We miss them being around. I done my ironing all up.

Friday, August 10, 1973 HOT HOT

Another very hot day. I done up my work. Down to Betty’s. We cleaned up her house. Bill mowed Betty’s lawns. She and I went to Norway. She got grain and groceries. Came home. Bill and I went to town. Came back, got supper. We also got our blueberries, I put them in the deep-freeze. Esther here in evening and also the Horton’s here. They brought ice cream cones. It has been such a very hot evening and day. Still miss George and Betty’s company.
