April 4 - 6, 1972 Zak has surgery

Tuesday, April 4, 1972 ZAK TO BE OPERATED ON

A cloudy stormy miserable day. I done up regular work or part of it. Down to Betty’s at 6:45. Walt left to go to Augusta to an important meeting. Betty left to go to the hospital to be with Zak. He was in the operating room room from 8 AM to 10:30 AM. He came through okay and doctors said he was fine. Betty saw Zak, he smiled at her. Dorothea went in with her too. In late p.m. E.W. Noyes came with our safe and Betty’s. Dorothea came to stay overnight. We are going tomorrow to get some information on family records. Kennard called in PM. Betty in evening. Kim went to school from here.

Wednesday, April 5, 1972 Zak quite good today. Walt saw him

A nice sunny morning. It seems so good to see the sun. Got up real early. Dorothea went and got the clothes out early. We got the work done up and was on our way before 9 o’clock. We went to Ava Hunt’s at North Waterford. To East Stoneham to Barkers for records and no one was at home. Then we went to Lovell to Howard Allen’s, got a lot of information there. Also went to the town clerk’s office at Lovell Center and got some information there. Went back to Waterford and to East Stoneham and still no one home at those places. Went to Norway and left some papers there at one of the Stone girls to be filled out and to be sent to Dorothea. Had a good time. Esther went with us.

Thursday, April 6, 1972 saw Zak today at MMC

Nice and sunny when we got up. But it got cloudy. Betty and I to Portland to do Kim’s birthday shopping. Then went to see Zak. He looks so pitiful and lonely. He was glad to see us. It was like tearing an arm and leg off to leave him. Came home, got supper. We enjoyed Dorothea’s visit with us.
