Friday, December 26, 1969 A BAD STORM $6.00 Joe Hatch

It began snowing this morning early. It snowed and blowed hard all day. Late at night it rained sleet and hail. After breakfast Billie and I went to town. Got groceries, paid some bills. Came home, Billie took his car to the garage. We took Christmas tree out and got all cleaned up from Christmas for this year. We got about 16 to 18 inches of snow.

Saturday, December 27, 1969 Mild Temperatures

A very bad bad day. It rained so awful hard all day. The roads were glazed with ice. Bill came home at noon and slept till five. Called out for an hour after supper. Billie and I called at Betty and Walt’s for a little while. The temperatures are mild but the weather is awful. I did regular work, washed a few things. Billie up to Chet’s, called at Ferns. Bill worked all night last night, came home at 5 AM and back to work at 7 to 12 he worked.

Sunday, December 28, 1969 washed

Today we saw sun after two days of very bad storm. Bill worked today all day and an hour after supper. Billie, Fern, Lloyd and I went down to Goshen Mountain for butter. Betty and family came up today. It seemed good to have them near enough to come up for a visit. The roads are in bad shape from the awful heavy rains for the past 48 hours. I washed today. Clothes dried good.

Monday, December 29, 1969

A kind of cold windy day. Betty to an eye doctor for her eye. They are bad or one is. It is painful. We went to Portland. I stayed at Dorothea’s with Zak and Kim. Dorothea is all a dither today. We didn’t get home until after 5 PM.
