September 6 - 9, 1956 Dorothea Called

Thursday, September 6, 1956

Foggy this morning. Cleared in early forenoon. I washed and cooked. A man came to fix refrigerator at 5 o’clock tonight. DOROTHEA called on the telephone. First time we’ve heard her voice since April 29. She was so pleased to talk to us but quite blue and lonesome too. She hates to leave Frank. Was so glad to hear her. Bill working down at Lloyds tonight. Dorothea leaving from March Air Force Base in California tonight.

Ironed. No word from Donnie.

Saturday, September 8, 1956

I did up the work. We canned tomatoes, made crabapple jelly, churned and cooked. Donnie came back today not very good. After supper Bill and I went to town and Fryeburg. Cold today.

Sunday, September 9, 1956

Billie worked today. Bill mowed lawns. In p.m. he showered and watched ballgames.
